FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I'M NERVOUS ABOUT JOINING TRIGGER DANCE WORKSHOP BECAUSE I HAVEN'T DONE CHOREOGRAPHY OR IMPROVISATION BEFORE.
That's ok! In Trigger Dance workshops we try really hard to create a safe psychological and physical space for you to engage in. We really want you to have fun while you learn new skills and push out of your comfort zone. We also try to provide specific information that will develop your skills and help you to feel more clear and confident with what you are doing.
CAN I DO THE TRIGGER WORKSHOP IF I HAVE DONE IT BEFORE?
Yes! Each workshop will feature new content, so you will certainly learn something new. Where possible we will hold workshops for different ages groups and experience so you may be able to move to a more advanced level.
CAN I PARTICIPATE IN TRIGGER IF I HAVE AN INJURY OR HEALTH CONCERN?
Yes. When you register you will be asked to tell us about any concerns you have. This will assist us in tailoring workshop content and in keeping you safe throughout. We can provide modifications to suit what you need.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I INJURE MYSELF IN A TRIGGER DANCE WORKSHOP?
Your health and safety is very important to us. While we endeavor to make Trigger Dance workshops as safe as possible, dancing can be risky business! To assist with this, Sarah Knox is fully First Aid trained. We have our own first aid kit with us at all times to deal with minor issues, like scrapes and cuts etc. If you suffer a more serious injury we will always telephone your caregiver, offer you any medical acre that is appropriate, and manage your physical activity. We will not offer you any painkillers or medications without your caregiver's consent, and if we think it necessary we will call 111 for urgent medical attention.
WHAT OTHER HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS DOES TRIGGER DANCE TAKE?
At least one adult (but usually two) will be present at all times for all Trigger Dance workshops and we will stay with any participants under the age of 18 until they have been picked up at the end of the day. We take care to lock any outside doors when necessary to protect participants and their belongings.
Before Trigger Dance workshops commence participators and/or their caregivers will be asked to view, consider and sign a release form for any photography and/or filming takes place.
WHEN WILL TRIGGER DANCE COME TO MY CITY?
If we have not yet traveled to your city, please send us a message telling us that you would like us to hold the workshop near you. We will see what we can do!
HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE IN TRIGGER DANCE IF I CAN'T AFFORD IT?
If you really want to participate in Trigger Dance workshops but are worried about finding the money, please send us a message at firstname.lastname@example.org. You should include a 200 word statement about your circumstances and how you think Trigger will develop your dance practice. We will consider you for one of two hardship scholarships for each Trigger Dance workshop.
CAN PARENTS WATCH THE WORKSHOPS?
We love to meet the families of Trigger Dance participants, however we do find that at times this can be distracting and impede the creative freedom of our students. For this reason we hold a showing of workshop content at the end of the last day. You are welcome to join us then. Parents and caregivers are also welcome to come and meet us at registration on the first day, and ask any questions you might have. We promise to keep your children safe for the duration of the workshop. You are also welcome to email us at any time at email@example.com
